BREAM & ZANDER

I have it on good authority, that the best place to catch Bream and Zander, at the moment, is at the Gloucester Docks.  Apparently both species are shoaling there now.  I did suggest that the only reason that there was hardly any other fish there was because Zander don't like Bream, but was told that an Angler has caught using Bream as bait.

PETE'S LAKE, TIRLEY COURT

By Line by Donald Leng.

All day I was having Carp from 5lbs to 20lbs.  It was a really good days fishing and I only used sweetcorn.

I left a really happy chap.

A NEW WAY TO CATCH ZANDER

One of our customers has been having great success on the River catching Zander. His method is to use a totalling free running rig with a large hook size 1 or 2 and the magic bait: Sandeels!!!

Apart from that some areas of the Rivers are fishing well and some not so good, I think we all need to learn the river beds again after the floods last year.

So get out there and have a go.

THE BREAM ARE STILL SHOALING AT BREDON

Since the floods last year, with all the changes to the river beds, it has been necessary to search out the new favourite swims.  One of our customers who wishes to remain anonimous, (but is a well known local fisherman first name beginning with "K") has just spent a day (13th March) fishing the River Avon at Bredon.  He bagged well over a 100lbs of Bream during the day, mostly over 3lb and one well over 6lbs.

Breaking news an 8lb 12oz Bream was landed here during the first week of August and, I am told, there is a lot of Roach in that vicinity as well.

LATEST NEWS FROM WICK WATER, SOUTH CERNEY

Two Carp of over 30lbs in one night!  On the night of 6/7 March, the Half Linear was caught at 10.30pm and weighed in at 36lbs and 5ozes.  Next at 3.30am a 31lb 4oz Mirror came out.  I do not know the bait for the Half Linear, but am told that the Mirror Carp came out on "Atlantic Heat" from "Bait Works" and everyone at Wick Water is now using this bait.  Can I have your comments on this please.!!!

LATEST NEWS FROM STAUNTON COURT

In just three hours fishing on 26th February, one of our customers caught five Carp by fishing in the margins on sweetcorn.  The largest weighed in at 15&1/2lbs.

These were all cought by using 6lb line straight through on his new Grauvell staulking rod, which he said was a really fantastic rod and he was amazed to get a rod of that calibre for such a realistic price (£39.9).

NEWS FROM THE OLD SPOT (by Steve Hope)

Picture of Carp

Just a quick note to say that the Old Spot is fishing it's head off, attached are a couple of photo's of a 27 fish net I had last week, of which 21 were carp. The largest one pictured went just shy of 8LB but most were 3-4lb.  I also had a couple of nice perch, although I did not weigh them, they were well over the pound mark.  All this on a pint of your red maggots and a few small feed pellets.

GENERAL NEWS

In the fourth week of January a 6lb 10oz Tench came out at the Gravel Pit at Broughton-on-Water. (I hope I have spelled that correctly).

In the first week of January, two of our customers pulled out over 50 fish each at "Crippets", including three fair size Perch, one of the being almost 3lbs.  An extremely enjoyable days fishing especially during murkly January.

In the second week of January an 8 lb Carp came out at Staunton Court to a newcomer to fishing, the first Carp he had ever caught and I hate to say it but the bait was bread.

A 25lb Pike and a fantastic Pure White Ghost Carp of just over 13lbs were caught just behind the Marina at Tewkesbury this week (w/end 3rd November 07), and a 35lb Pike was landed from the Dead Arm. A Ghost Carp was also caught this week at Corse and last Sunday three Pike at 8lb, 10, and 11lb were taken from match lake two at Wick Water.

NORTON FRUIT FARM (Twigworth)

Norton Fruit farm always gives a good days fishing and the fish are so well looked after they are a pleasure to catch.

Norton Fruit Farm is not open during the closed Season, but is now, of course, open.

Now Paul has done it again, a 21.6lb Mirror Carp.

100lb BLUE MARLIN

One of our custopmers, David Coy, had a trip to the Dominion Republic this year. This fantastic 100lb Blue Marlin took over an hor to bring in with each of the six anglers aboard taking turns until it was finally landed in the boat.

This was the biggest catch for several months a great day's fishing!

MY DAY AT GARTDENERS POOL, FRAMPTON

By Paul Green

After a day of not even one run, at about 4.45am, my rod went off which resulted in this lovely 22lb commom and while playing it my other rod went which resulted in another common of 16lb,

So I went home happy even if my mate was moaning about how lucky I was.
