3rd JULY

Hi Louis Gill here, me and my friend Sally fished at old spot yesterday. It started off overcast and I nailed a few carp on the bottom using corned beef, Sally also caught roach and bream on soft hooker pellets from your shop. Even though the silver fish seemed to be high up in the water the carp where on the bottom. I found that as I was casting my hair rigged meat rig the silverfish were destroying it before the carp could get too it. At about 1:30 the sun came out from behind the clouds and some carp started to show on the top. I switched to a surface fishing rig and caught a couple of carp on bread, however all the carp caught were under 5 lbs but in perfect summer condition. Sally was still catching the silver fish in the lake consistently. The fish coming out of old spot are not the biggest but really fun to catch, we had a brilliant day and would recommend old spot to anyone but especially children and beginners because it is very low Maintenance. Tight lines ... Louis Gill

30th JUNE 2010

Hey, Louis Gill again ! I have some new news from Staunton Court match lake. Me and my friend Curt fished there today, a brilliant day with 17 carp between us, all in perfect condition averaging about 7 lbs. It was a very hot day and the fish were lively. At the start of the day they tended to be on the bottom and we caught them on sweet corn, curt taking the main share of the early fish. During the afternoon it started to cool down and a few carp started to show on the surface, using rubber bread on a free lined hair rig we managed to nail a few. Staunton is fishing amazingly and we had a fantastic day! ... Tight lines ... Louis Gill and Curt Barwell.

LATEST NEWS FROM STAUNTON COURT

Louis Gill has some news about his day's fishing at Staunton. He fished there last weekend and the session started of slow on the front lake with a few Bream, the Carp were spawning. When he talked to the owner he was told the Carp had been spawning for ten days, so he felt a move would be in order. He set up camp on the match lake. The Carp were down the windward end of the lake and were really lively. He felt the swim he had chosen was good and he went on to catch 4 Carp in the first 30 minuites. A 5lb Mirror, an 8lb Common, and a 6lb Mirror all caught on bread off the top and then an 8lb Mirror caught on Spam. Louis says Staunton his fishing very well and he had a great day out.

CATFISH AT WAGTAIL FISHERY, NR GRANTHAM

Mark Kibble and Dave Whittaker have just come back from a holiday at Wagtail Fishery, nr Grantham Lincolnshire.

Between them they had 9 cats to 35lb and 2 ghost carp to 18lb the majority of which were caught on red halibut pellets. (I don't wish to know that Dave as I don't sell red halibut pellets!)

So here a couple of photos of Dave and Mark.   Hope you like them.

Many Thanks to Dave for taking the trouble to send these pictures to us.

CATFISH

I have just been told how they are catching the Catfish down South.  They are using a sliding rig and believe or not, frozen squid.  You put the squid on whilst it is still frozen and as it thaws it gently sinks and the Catfish thinks its fantastic.

PETE'S LAKE, TIRLEY COURT

THE BREAM ARE STILL SHOALING AT BREDON

Since the floods last year, with all the changes to the river beds, it has been necessary to search out the new favourite swims.  One of our customers, who wishes to remain anonimous, (but is a well known local fisherman first name beginning with "K") has just spent a day (13th March) fishing the River Avon at Bredon.  He bagged well over a 100lbs of Bream during the day, mostly over 3lb and one well over 6lbs.

Breaking news an 8lb 12oz Bream was landed here during the first week of August and, I am told, there is a lot of Roach in that vicinity as well.

NEWS FROM THE OLD SPOT (by Steve Hope)

Just a quick note to say that the Old Spot is fishing it's head off, attached are a couple of photo's of a 27 fish net I had last week, of which 21 were carp. The largest one pictured went just shy of 8LB but most were 3-4lb.  I also had a couple of nice perch, although I did not weigh them, they were well over the pound mark.  All this on a pint of your red maggots and a few small feed pellets.
